I hope you all had a restful holiday and I’m sure you are glad the sun has finally made an appearance this week! The summer term is always the busiest in schools so read on to find out what’s planned at Kirkliston.
Local Rotary Primary School Quiz
A team of P7s took part in the Rotary Primary School Quiz on Wednesday evening joining teams from Queensferry PS, Echline PS, St Margaret’s RC PS and Dalmeny PS. The competition was tough and it was a very close contest with KPS finishing in a respectable 4th place and Dalmeny lifting the cup for the very first time. Well done Dalmeny. I am pleased to say that our team gave them stiff competition and were the only team to get full marks in the maths round. Well done KPS, we are proud of you!
Maggie and Chris led an interactive assembly today that followed on from our end of term assembly by continuing the anti-bullying message. Chris shared his personal experience which gave the children a very powerful message. Thank you for your courage and honesty Chris.
I know that many PE kits went home to be washed over the holidays so please make sure your child brings their PE kit and gym shoes to school next week.
School Meal Orders
We have had a large number of school meal orders coming in late this week so I would like to remind you to place all school meal orders on ParentPay by midnight on a Wednesday. This will help the kitchen with their food orders and ensure all children get the choice that they ordered. If you need any assistance with ordering school meals please contact the school office.
Glow in the Dark Volleyball
Some of our P6 & P7 pupils are at a very exciting Glow in the Dark Volleyball event as I type and I look forward to hearing how they got on when they return this afternoon.
After School Clubs
All after school clubs will resume next week. Here are the details for your information.
School Crossing Patrol Review (closing date has been extended)
City of Edinburgh Council are carrying out a review of the School Crossing Patrols please read the message below to find out how to have your say.
Dear Parent or Carer,
Our school crossing guides continue to deliver an excellent and highly valued service to communities across Edinburgh and we want to make sure this continues.
We are reviewing the current service to make sure we are providing the best possible service and that we have crossing guides where and when we most need them. We have already studied our existing patrol sites; how many people use them, traffic levels and where they are located.
We are now getting feedback from school crossing patrol guides, people using the service and groups including Parent Councils, Head Teachers, Junior Road Safety Officers and Councillors. Community Councils / Neighbourhood Partnership have also been asked to contribute.
We also wish to get the views of Parents and Carers, who may contribute to the Review through the Council’s Consultation Hub, by a specific questionnaire which can be found using this link –
The link is open for contributions and will close on *29 April 2018.
We will present a report of the feedback from the consultation in late 2018 to councillors. Councillors will then use this feedback when deciding if any changes should be made to the service
If you have any questions, please pass these to my colleague Katie Green or myself at the email address email@example.com
