Mrs Whitford’s Kirky News – 6th November 2017

Last week we began the second part of our Resilience programme with ‘Keeping Connected’ which teaches the children about their back up team who will help them if they need it. Mrs Fowler tasked some P7s with a puzzle in assembly and it took a good half hour to work it out with the help of their back up team! On Thursday we welcomed some of our prospective P1s and their parents/carers to the Edinburgh School’s Open Day. The P7s did a fantastic job of doing tours of the school and received excellent feedback. Our pupil council had their second meeting of the session with Mrs Collingwood in attendance as a parent visitor. The children were concerned about poor sportsmanship on the pitch at break and lunch and we discussed how we could solve this and they also decided the information they should give to the new Headteacher in January. They will all be invited to attend the next KPSA meeting to give their views on a variety of issues. Sumdog lunchtime club has been going well and classes are competing with each other across the school. P1, 2 and 3 are working on boosting their vocabulary through ‘Word Wand’ so look out for their wand words on the display in the foyer.
