Into Kirkliston Nursery
Allocation of Places
Places at Kirkliston Nursery are allocated according to a child’s place on the waiting list. Applications to the waiting list are accepted from a child’s second birthday. A letter is sent to the parent/guardian in June, April or January if places are available, offering a child a place in the Nursery class. The letter states whether this is likely to be a morning or afternoon place. In line with City Of Edinburgh policy, placing priority is given to children who can attend for 5 sessions.
Once the place has been accepted a child is given an enrolment appointment. It is at this appointment that parents should share any relevant information about their child. During the meeting, parents / carers are informed of the Nursery starting arrangements, given general Nursery enrolment information and receive a Parent Handbook (this handbook is avaible to download on this website). At this point please do not hesitate to get in touch with the Nursery if you have any concerns about the information you have received.
In June we hold an ‘Open Morning/Afternoon’ where parents and new children are invited to visit the Kirkliston Nursery. There are details of the Nursery aims and curriculum displayed around both rooms and there is a chance for children, parents and staff to engage together and for children to meet their Key Worker. Each Key Worker has responsibility for a group of children.
For children starting in January and April arrangements will vary.
