Assembly
P2A performed a fantastic assembly in front of family and friends today. We learned the story of Chinese New Year and how the order of animals was decided. There was so much confidence and excitement when sharing the learning from some of our youngest learners, which was wonderful to see.
The assembly was such a success that the brought the celebration of learning to the upper school assembly too and performed the whole thing again.
We then continued the celebration theme by learning the actions to a new song called ‘Celebrate’. Mr Moir was getting excited about Haggis Neeps and Tatties to celebrate Burns night this weekend, and he read a Scots Poem called ‘The Magic Pizza’.
Benmore
P7 and staff have safely returned home from Benmore feeling in equal parts delighted and exhausted. By all accounts it has been a very successful week with children pushing themselves and achieving in so many areas. Well done to everyone for a wonderful week and a huge thank you to all staff involved in making this week happen.
Nursery
It has been a very busy week in Nursery, as well as all the usual fun, learning and activities, the Care Inspectorate joined us on Tuesday. They enjoyed their time with us and commented on the friendly, happy and confident children that we have. In the middle room the children have been enjoying exploring using magnets and testing lots of object to sort into magnetic and non-magnetic. Construction has been popular too, they have enjoyed choosing their own resources and have been responsible for tidying and returning boxes ready for the next person. In French the children were learning days of the week and singing our goodbye song in French. Outside children built a McDonalds, complete with a bell to call for service. In the art area the children have been creating their own tartans using various media and making thistles and flags. For snack this week children have experienced a range of Scottish produce, today the children experienced haggis , neeps and tatties which proved a hit with many. All the children were taken for Scottish dancing today, Mrs Marshall led the children in highland dancing, complete with swords, great fun was had by all !
