Assembly

Today our assembly focused on kindness and we were joined by Colin from the community church. We spoke about how kindness can make us feel and why we should be kind to others. P1 and 2 covered kindness too and some brave children acted out the story of The Little Red Hen where she decided to be kind at the end and allowed her animal friends to share the bread. They were also introduced to Kirky Kangaroo who was looking out for the best class and Mrs Fairley’s P1 class get to keep him for all of next week. Look out for Random Acts of Kindness happening near you.

Staffing Update

I’m delighted to let you know that we welcomed two baby boys into the Kirkliston family during the holidays. Mrs Brusatte has now gone on maternity leave and Mr Wood is on a fortnight’s paternity leave.

Flu Vaccinations

The pupils had their flu vaccinations in school yesterday. If your child missed this opportunity, please make an appointment with your GP.

Open Day for Parents & Carers of children due to start school in August 2019

If your child is due to start school in August 2020, Kirkliston Primary School will be holding an Open Day on Wednesday 30th October between 9:15am and 10:15am or between 1:30pm and 2:30pm. You will be invited on a tour of the school and have the opportunity to meet the school management team. You are very welcome to bring your child along with you.

The following week, beginning 4th November, we will be holding enrolment meetings at the school for ALL catchment pupils.  If you wish to enrol at a different school, you still must enrol in your catchment school initially and complete an ‘out of catchment’ enrolment form. Appointments will be at certain times throughout the day so please telephone the school for an appointment – 0131 333 3260. Even if you are thinking of deferring, you still must complete an enrolment form. Please bring the following with you:

  • Your child’s birth certificate
  • Council tax bill/correspondence
  • Other proof of address e.g. bill/letter

Reporting to Parents Survey

Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond to the questionnaire, we have been overwhelmed by the positive and supportive comments. As a result of your feedback we have decided to make a couple of permanent changes;

  • We will have three Parent’s Consultations each year; one in November one in March and one in June.
  • We will have a Curriculum Evening, rather than a day-time event and this will be held in September. We will use your feedback to refine this event for next year.
  • We will hold the first and last Parent’s Consultations in the hall and the March event will be held in classrooms.
  • All pupils will be invited to come along to the June consultations.
  • The end of term report will be discussed and issued at the June consultations.
  • We will continue to have class assemblies and will give as much advanced notice of this as possible.

The feedback will be on display at the November Parents’ Consultations.

Parent Consultations

Our first Parents’ Consultations will be held on Thursday 7th and Friday 8th November. Our online booking system for Parent Consultations will open for bookings on Tuesday 29th October for this month’s event.
