Assembly

We had a whole school assembly and our New House Captains presented our Stars of the Week with their certificates. We also shared some examples of ‘Looking on the Brightside’ and enjoyed a powerful rendition of ‘Hakuna Matata’ which could be heard at the other end of the village I’m sure!

Cbeebies

Three of our P1 children have been cast to star in a special Cbeebies programme called ‘Let’s Go for a Walk’.  The walk will take place in the local area and will be shown around November time. There were over 50 children from P1 who put themselves forward and were stiff competition, so the three chosen should be very proud of themselves. Look out for the tweets to see who they are.

Home Learning

Jackie Reid, our Quality Improvement Manager visited the school today hear about our innovative new approach to home learning. Pupils, parents and staff did themselves proud, sharing the changes we have made and the impact it has had on the children. As a result, this exciting new approach may be adopted by other schools across the authority.

Nursery

This week in Nursery we have embraced European Languages Day, each day we have had a different country as a focus and the children have thoroughly enjoyed exploring the different cultures, languages and food.  The children had great fun wearing their chef hats and making pizzas for snack on Tuesday with one of our morning children’s Nonna.  On Wednesday afternoon a parent came in to share a traditional Polish story about animals and the importance on being polite to each other.  On Thursday morning the children enjoyed baking with one of our children’s Grandma for our coffee morning. We will display the photographs in nursery next week.  We have ended our week with a very successful coffee morning for MacMillan, huge thank you to all the fabulous bakers who made cakes for us, the parent helpers who help serve the teas and coffees and to all the nursery families who attended and generously donated.  We will let you know the total raised once Mrs Peters has counted it all up!

Pupil Council

We had our first pupil council meeting of the session on Tuesday and were joined by the new Chair of the KPSA Louise Collingwood. As well as enjoying juice and biscuits the pupils discussed important issues like the adventure playground and song choices at assembly.

Running Club

The lunchtime running club ventured out onto the old railway line for the first time this week allowing some pupils to run their furthest distance ever. Well done all!

Harvest Assembly

Kirsteen will be leading our Harvest Assembly on Friday 11^th October and we will be collecting donations for our school food bank. If you have any tinned or dry food to spare, please send it to the school office or hand it to one of the Family Learning Team. Thank you.
