Assembly

We had a very special remembrance assembly today commemorating 100 years since the end of WWI.

The P7s then went to the War Memorial to read poems and take part in a two-minute silence after which, one of our P7 pupils was joined by his brother (a former pupil) and they performed the last post on their brass instruments I would like to thank our Brass Teacher Mr Ross for organising the performance. P1 and P2 had a condensed version of the reasons why we buy poppies and enjoyed a short film of a bugler playing the Last Post in places around the UK.

This week in Nursery …

The rain has brought lots of puddles to our garden and filled our outside water tray, much to the delight of the children. They have had great fun splashing in the puddles, transporting water and exploring floating and sinking.  Our Butterfly Cottage is now watertight again and, thanks to one of our parents, has had a new carpet fitted.  The children have enjoyed playing with small world resources, reading, mark making and chatting with friends on the cushions.

Inside, the art and crafts have been inspired by fireworks with lots of neon paints, chalks and glitter! Loose parts have generated lots of imaginative play and creativity.  One group created great pictures that they enjoyed sharing with each other.  In response to the children, our house corner now has a bedroom with a canopy “to make it dark like at bedtime”.  As always there has been lots of great role play in the house corner and lots of children have been keen to go to bed!

Last week we began our ‘Play on Pedal’ training with our 4 year olds in the in Yellow and Purple group. These sessions are teaching the children the skills of riding a bike, safety and simple bike maintenance.  The weekly sessions will take place throughout the year, involving all the 4 years in all groups, any questions please speak to Miss Grieve or Mrs Marshall.

Next Friday 15th November we are inviting the children to come to Nursery in their pyjamas or onesie to mark Children in Need.
