Assembly

This week’s assembly was all about Earth Hour and how we can look after our planet. At 8.30pm tomorrow night, hundreds of millions of people across the world will switch off their lights for one hour to celebrate Earth Hour and show they care about the future of our planet.

We will be doing an Earth Hour Challenge in school but if you would like to find our more and take part at home click on this link for more information.

Parent Consultation Phone Calls

In the week commencing 26th April we will be having parent consultations by telephone. We understand that this has been a period like no other in your child’s education and we wanted to create an opportunity to discuss transitions. We want to discuss your child’s transition back to school after a period of remote learning, as well as discussing next steps for your child moving forward. A link will be sent for you to book your appointment via the normal booking system. Please use this to let us know of anything specific you would like to discuss with your child.

This week in Nursery …

All the children have been out in our local community taking part in a nature Spring walk.  The children had to look out for signs of Spring.  Each group had to look for colours of plants and flowers the same as their coloured group.  It was amazing to see how many different colours the children found.  There have been some wonderful pictures created of Spring flowers in the nursery.  Every child has taken home a Spring nature sheet to look out for more signs of Spring, while out exploring with their families.  On our Spring walk we found branches from trees and we have used these for displaying our name logs in the nursery.

We have been exploring our senses to see, hear and feel the natural world around us as we are focusing on earth hour Scotland.  We would like to encourage all our families to take part in Earth Hour on Saturday night at 8.30pm – this means turning off all electrical appliances to help save our planet – we turned the lights and technology off in nursery this week to see how the children would react.

Next week Thursday is our last day in nursery before our Easter holidays.  We return on Tuesday 20th April for our Monday/Tuesday children and Wednesday 21st April for our Wednesday/Thursday children.

Nursery/ P1 Transition

It has been wonderful talking with some families of nursery pupils due to start transition to Kirkliston Primary School this year and finding out more about our new pupils. Ms Kiely will be continuing with these calls over next week, and into April, so please do not worry if she has not called yet, she will do so soon. Information will be shared via email and put in the transition section of our website.
