Assembly
This week was our sharing assembly for the Building Resilience unit: Expect the Unexpected. The SLT shared their favourite strategies for dealing with unexpected events. These strategies included: Keep Connected, Respect Yourself, Challenge your Mindset, Talk Things Over, Get Active, Make a Difference, Look on the Brightside, Be Kind to Others and Have a Goal.
P5 shared how they deal with challenging feelings and showed us some of the posters that they had created. P3 Made Skipper a new boat and decorated it with what they think he needs to navigate the river of life; love, friends, healthy, family, keep going, happiness and courage. P7 shared examples of when they have expected the unexpected and the P7 Clean Team shared a video they made of how to wash your hands. P6 have been developing their emotional skills this week and they shared their posters.

Our Primary 1 children have been learning all about people who help us in our local community. We would love to hear from you if you work in the following roles:
- Coastguard/Lifeboat crew
- Dentist/Dental nurse
- Electricians
- Firefighters
- NHS staff
- Paramedics
- Police officers
- Postal workers
- Refuse collectors
- Supermarket staff
We would normally invite visitors into the class to talk about their jobs but unfortunately we are unable to do this at the moment. We would, however, be very grateful if you could send us a photo of you in your work uniform/clothes, accompanied by a very brief description (a few sentences/bullet points) of your typical day at work. We will use the images to create a short PowerPoint to help the children learn about the different jobs within our community.

This week in Nursery….
We now have all our new children with us and it is great to see the playrooms and garden full of children playing, exploring, chatting and having fun. Painting moved outdoors this week and the children have enjoyed exploring colouring, mixing and painting using a variety of tools. Block play and construction have also continued this week with lots of co-operative play and imaginative structures which the children loved telling us about. A spider in the snack room generated lots of interest and chat with the Rainbows, who also have been enjoying dinosaur play, making playdough and investigating floating and sinking in the garden water tray. The Butterflies have enjoyed looking for and finding minibeasts in the garden and inside they have been drawing, painting, cutting and colouring circles.

Parking
I would like to remind parents to be considerate when parking for drop-off and pick up; please do not block driveways or create dangerous crossing situations. We have been encouraging pupils to come to school without a parent where possible, so we must make sure their route to school is safe. I understand that more people are returning to work and need to drop their child off by car but please park a bit further away from school to keep the immediate area clear for pedestrians. Thank you for your understanding.
