Good Morning P3!
We hope you are all well!
This is the last home learning grid of the session so we would like to say thank you for all your hard work, enthusiasm and resilience this year. We have missed you all during this time away from school but have loved keeping in touch and seeing what you have been doing and learning at home. We would have all loved to end the year in a different way but we are very much looking forward to seeing everyone again in August! We hope you have a lovely summer – stay safe and enjoy yourselves!

Writing
Our writing task this week is a transition task. We would like you to fill in the What I Want My Teacher to Know About Me sheet for your teacher next year. It is important to think carefully about your answers because this will help your P3 teacher and your new teacher really understand how you got on in P3 and what you’re looking forward to in P4.
Please remember to write in sentences and to use capital letters and full stops. Please also write using your neatest handwriting. This will send a really good impression to your new teacher.

This is a feedback task and is really important for the transition process so it is vital that this document is sent to your teacher before the end of term. Please send this back to your teacher at admin@kirkliston.edin.sch.uk with your name and class in the subject header.
Spelling
This week we are continuing to revise the sounds we have been learning in P3. Our spelling activity this week is a spelling test on Sumdog. This will show your teacher how well you know the sounds we have learned this year.
All the sounds we have learned this year are:

Log on to Sumdog (let your teacher know if you can’t or have forgotten your log in details), select spelling and click on the spelling assessment. Complete the tasks and this will give your teacher a really good idea of your knowledge of sounds. Good luck!
Maths
Sumdog Diagnostic test
For the final week we have set the children a diagnostic test on Sumdog, this will help the P3 teachers to see where the children are in their learning.
It will appear in two parts for the children:
1. A short numeracy assessment (15 questions)
2. A longer diagnostic assessment (40 questions)
You should allow at least 40 minutes for students to complete this.
Their progress will not be saved if they quit part way through.
Children will receive 5 Sumdog coins for every correct answer in both assessments.

Data Handling

Task 1: Interpreting data. This task involves using information from a table to answer questions. There are two sheets available to be choose from which are available here:

Task 2: Tally Marks. This task requires the children to use tally marks to record data. Using the worksheet provided or by drawing their own table, children are asked to record the number of times they spot each animal from the PowerPoint provided. There are then some follow up questions on the worksheet. The resources for this task can be found below:

Reading
We hope you have managed to read lots during lockdown and maybe try out a new genre of book that you have not tried before! Think about a favourite book that you have read in P3. What were the reasons for making it such a good book?
Use the book review template below or have a go at designing your own review template and then fill it in. The more detail you can give the better!
Topic
We hope you have enjoyed learning about Food and Farming as our topic during home learning as it is now coming to an end.
A trip to a farm would have been something we would have considered while planning this topic but unfortunately due to the current circumstances that is obviously not possible. However, unique opportunities have arisen from this situation. Everyone is having to work in different ways and that includes the farming industry.
There are lots of opportunities to visit farms online or videos which show the daily lives of those working on farms. Have a look at some of these resources and discuss what life would be like on a farm. Would you like to live and work on a farm? Do you think it would be hard work?
