Good Morning Primary 3!
We can’t believe that this is the sixth week of home learning, we miss you all very much. Hopefully you have continued to enjoy some of the sunshine and have been able to get out in the fresh air for some exercise. Here is our learning grid for this week: P3 Week 6 Home Learning Grid and below you will find more information to help guide your learning along with some optional extension activities.
Please also continue to use the PE and Health and Wellbeing grids on their respective pages. Don’t forget to check out our school You-Tube channel which is regularly updated with videos to help you with key concepts and activity ideas across the curriculum. The SfL page on the website is also useful if you are finding any of the grid activities too tricky or if you are usually in a Read Write Inc or SEAL group.

Multiplication flowers instructions –
- Write a number in the circle.
- On the smaller, inner petal, write each number from 1–12
- On the larger, outer petal, write the answer of the multiplication sum made from the centre number and the inner petal number.

Reading
Choose a story book of your choice that you have at home. Using the scavenger hunt booklet below, how many of the challenges can you complete and find the answers to? Feel free to write out the responses in your home learning jotter if this is easier.

Writing
Our writing task this week is a personal reflection about how we have been getting on in lockdown. You should think about how you have been doing, things you have enjoyed, things we have found a little tricky and things you’d like to remember about lockdown when this is all over.
Read through the Powerpoint and there are example sentences to help you. Write your own reflection and email your finished task back to your teacher using admin@kirkliston.edin.sch.uk. This can be a photograph of your work or you could use your ICT skills and type your writing into a document. As an extension, it would be nice if you could illustrate your work with pictures or photos.

Spelling
Our spelling sound for this week is ff (double f). The way we learn our spelling sounds is the same as we learned our sounds in class, using the Powerpoint and dot dash count. Remember to sound out the words using Freddy fingers first before writing the words and dotting and dashing. When you feel confident in using your new sound ask an adult to read the dictation sentences to you, write them down then check how you got on.
If you want to extend your learning, try finding your spelling words in a dictionary, use them in a sentence or a story or try some of the worksheets provided below.

Art
Nature Patterns
This week in art we are making observations about natural objects and using these to create a new picture. Here are some examples of the three part activity we will be doing.
1) Choose a flower, leaf or pinecone and bring it home to examine (with permission) or choose a picture online. Take time to observe and talk about the patterns you see. What shapes and colours can you find? How are they organised? Why might these patterns exist?
2) Draw / recreate the patterns. What do the patterns make you think of? What other things in the world have you seen that are similar?
3) Have fun and make your own picture with the same shapes, patterns and colours.
Topic
This week we are developing our learning of types of farms further by focusing on livestock farms and looking after these animals. The SSPCA website is great tool to find out more about this. They are also releasing a new online learning resource pack each month called ‘Scottish SPCA Adventure Tails’ which you can download from the website here https://www.scottishspca.org/our-work/our-work-with-young-people/education-resources.
We are also hoping to create a video about life as a farmer. If you would like to be a part of the video, film yourself asking what one question you would ask a real farmer and email it to admin@kirkliston.edin.sch.uk using P3 farming video in the subject box to be forwarded on to us. By doing this you consent to your video being used and uploaded to the school’s YouTube channel. If you keep the videos nice and short they should be able to be emailed no problem.
