It is now our sixth week away from school and we have been impressed with some of the work we’ve seen from you so far! We hope you are well and are enjoying some of the different tasks so far.

Literacy
For writing this week we would love you to write us a letter detailing some of the things you have been up to in the past few weeks and how you are feeling. Remember to check out the success criteria – this will help structure your writing! Send finished letters to admin@kirkliston.sch.edin.uk and your teacher will read it and send you feedback. (Please put the name of your teacher and your class as the subject of your email).

For reading this week we are focussing on alliteration – where words begin with the same sound. There are two activities on our Bitesize link and also some opportunities for an extension if you’d like a challenge. Can you spot any alliteration in the book you are currently reading at home?

In spelling we are looking at the ‘oo’ sound and the different ways this sound can be spelled. We are looking at ‘oo’, ‘ew’ and u-e’. Remember to dot, dash and count your words before you attempt a spelling task – these don’t just have to be written tasks! Can you make the words with lego, hide them in a picture or act them out?

Maths
We can see lots of you are using Sumdog for practice at home – great job! Keeping logging in every day – even if it’s only for 10 minutes! We are continuing our focus on fractions, decimals and percentages this week and are looking at linking our knowledge of decimals to percentages.
Our White Rose Maths for this week is on Section Week 2 and lessons 3 and 4. The videos are very helpful to visualise these concepts so make so you watch them before you work on the questions!
