Welcome to the Kirkliston Primary Support for Learning page.

Hello everyone! We hope you enjoyed the Kirky Connects week! This week Mrs Benzie and Mrs O’Hara having been chatting about how we keep ourselves motivated and that it can sometimes be challenging. There are lots of different ways we can keep motivated and different things work for different people.

Mrs O’Hara often finds it useful to break tasks down into small chunks and likes ticking small things off as this motivates her to complete tasks. Mrs Benzie finds it helpful to make a list in the morning of what she would like to achieve that day and loves being able to tick off the tasks when they are completed! We also find it useful to talk to each other and other staff in our team, especially if we are finding tasks difficult, this helps to motivate us to keep going and achieve our goals for each day or week.

It is important to give ourselves a pat on the back and celebrate our achievements each day and this will help to keep us motivated. How do you celebrate your successes? What do you do to keep yourself motivated? What do your family and friends do to help keep you motivated? Sometimes it’s good to sit down at the end of the day or whilst having dinner and talk about what you have achieved each day.

We would love you to share your thoughts or ideas on how you keep motivated with us and also share with us how you celebrate your achievements and successes each day.  Please continue to get in touch with us at admin@kirkliston.edin.sch.uk and any emails will be forwarded on to us.

Below are some additional activities you can be doing to support your learning this week.

We continue to recommend the Daily Read Write Inc phonics lessons shown on YouTube. These are clear and easy to follow 10 to 15 minute phonic lessons with trained Read Write Inc teachers which children can follow independently. The  children in  all our groups are very familiar with RWInc and the Speed Sounds.
