Welcome to the Kirkliston Primary Support for Learning page.
Mrs O’Hara (P1 – P4) and Mrs Benzie (P5 – P7) send you a warm hello from home. We hope that you are all well and staying safe. The lovely weather has been helping to keep us cheery and we hope you have been enjoying it too!
We continue to be here to support you with your learning in many different ways. We have included some more useful tips and ideas to help you but we would really like to hear how the children, who work with us, are getting on. Please let us know what we can do to support both children and parents further.
Please use the link below to access the Microsoft form to get in touch and we will try to respond in the best way we can.

Remember, short bursts of learning are ideal to keep children focused and interested! Mix focused writing activities with mental and physical activities.
Everyday life skills are a fantastic way to bring meaning to learning; helping around the house and in the garden too!
Below are some additional activities you can be doing to support your learning this week.
Literacy
Reading – Reading every day will help all levels of readers develop their skills. Try changing where you read – make a den and read in there – read in the garden – read in the kitchen when lunch is being made – read in the bath – no water, just some cushions and a few soft toys!
Reading comics, shopping lists, instructions for games and recipes are all perfect things to use to practise your reading, as well as your favourite books.
Daily Read Write Inc phonics lessons continue to shown on YouTube. These are clear and easy to follow 10 to 15 minute phonic lessons with trained Read Write Inc teachers which children can follow independently. The children in all our groups are very familiar with RWInc and the Speed Sounds.
Click on the link below and have a go following a lesson. Please let us know how you get on.

P5 to P7 continue to have access to IDL which they regularly use in school. The children have been given their passwords and we would like to encourage the children to complete 2 modules three times a week if they can. Please let us know if you need any support with this. The children are confident using this in school and will hopefully be able to work on this independently at home. Click on the link below and click on ‘My IDL Login’ to get started.

Visualise a peaceful place
Can you close your eyes and think somewhere you find peaceful? How do you feel when you are there? What can you see and smell? Can you draw and label a picture of your peaceful place?
Mrs Benzie, Mrs Stewart and Mrs Miller have been thinking carefully about their peaceful places where they feel relaxed and calm and the smells and sounds they would experience there. We would love you to share your pictures with us.
Thank you to @nurtureuktweets for the idea.
Maths / Numeracy
Many of you have been asking how you can help with numeracy and maths. Remember this does not have to be sitting at a table and doing sums! Make it fun and you will enjoy it more and so will the children!
This week we want you to focus on time. There are lots of ways we can use time to develop numeracy/maths skills at all levels.
Can you make your own clock to practise with? Use anything you can find around the house / garden. Be as creative as possible and share your creations with us. We would love to see them!
