Welcome to the Kirkliston Primary Support for Learning page.

Hello!   Mrs O’Hara (P1 – P4) and Mrs Benzie (P5 – P7) are still working at home, just like you!  It is good to know that you have been keeping busy and to hear about how you have been learning in lots of different ways. Many of you have shared how you enjoy doing lots of different things each day. This is a great way to learn as it keeps your mind alert and receptive to new experiences.
Keeping physically active, going outside, playing and making up games as well as some PE with Joe Wicks or Cosmic Yoga are a fabulous way to keep your brain healthy and ready to learn.Having a good chat at breakfast to plan your day ahead and again at dinnertime to share what worked well or what you enjoyed most is a great way to start and end your ‘school day’.
We know the amount of online resources out there can be overwhelming so, below, we have highlighted, what we feel are, some really useful resources to support your learning.
We would really like to hear how the children are getting on.  Please let us know what we can do to support you further. Please email us through admin@Kirkliston.edin.sch.uk and any emails will be forwarded on to us or use the link below to access the Microsoft form to get in touch and we will try to respond in the best way we can

Oxford Owl has a great range of free eBooks suitable for many different levels. It is free and only takes a couple of minutes to register as a parent.  This week would like you to explore the different books and would love to hear if there are any you have particularly enjoyed.

P5 to P7 continue to have access to IDL which they regularly use in school. The children have been given their passwords and we would like to encourage the children to complete 2 modules three times a week if they can. Please let us know if you need any support with this. The children are confident using this in school and will hopefully be able to work on this independently at home. Click on the link below and click on ‘My IDL Login’ to get started.

Health and Well Being / Nurture

Make your own wise owl to share your feelings with.

Have a go making your very own special wise owl out of a cardboard toilet roll tube. Be as creative as you can! Your owl can then stay by your side and listen to how you are feeling. Tell your owl your secrets and your worries and it will help them fly away. Or you could use your owl as a puppet to talk to and share how you are feeling. Or write your worries and feelings inside your owl and ask it to look after them. Click on this link to download our instructions on how to make your  very own owl.

How to make your own wise owl.

We would love to see your pictures of your owls. What will you call your owl? Send any photos of your owls to admin@Kirkliston.edin.sch.uk  to share with Mrs Benzie, Mrs Stewart, Mrs Miller and Mrs O’Hara and Mrs Taylor.

If you choose to do one of the money based activities, how about setting up a shop at home? You could create price labels for toys, games, tins of food or even toilet rolls!! Then ask someone to ‘buy’ 2 items and see if you can calculate the cost.

Have fun. We would love to see photos of your shops!

Please complete the Support for Learning conversation form and let us know how you are getting on this week. We look forward to hearing from you.
